The IBP Core Training was born out of our friendship, which has always been rooted in deep trust, willingness to challenge each other, radical support, a shared hunger for learning, and dark chocolate. It's a rich relationship, and we are inviting you in!
We are seasoned doulas, board-certified patient advocates, mothers, and best friends. We’ve seen each other through birth and death, and are grateful to be at each other’s side through life. We feel wonder every day that we get to do this work together, hold your stories together, mourn with you and laugh with you, and share with you the bounty that birth has taught us.
We’ve mentored hundreds of doulas through Intentional Birth, and since 2013 we’ve supported families in every setting while honing effective systems for birth work, patient advocacy, and business success. We are deeply invested in reducing trauma around birth and in honoring the rites of passage that lead to whole, powerful mothers, fathers, and birth professionals. If you share that commitment, then you are ready to become an Intentional Birth Pro!

“Working with Meredith and Alicia is refreshing. They are very straightforward and honest and don't try to sugar coat anything tough in birth work. They are also really proactive on making sure honest, and evidence based research is in the hands of everyone. I truly realized I had much to learn to make sure my clients were truly informed with every decision that comes their way. They opened my eyes to what a doula practice can look like because they have been successful as business women financially and been able to work with their dream clients!”

“IBP was an incredible experience for me. I learned so much about the practical aspects of running a doula business, tips for everything from the first interview to structuring prenatals to keeping records. Boundaries, advocacy, physiology, business, self-care... so many important topics were covered. The Marco Polo groups were my favorite. It gave us a space to discuss what we'd learned and apply it to real situations we were encountering with our clients. We could cheer each other on, support each other, comfort each other. Not to mention the coaching we received from Alicia and Meredith, both in a group setting and 1:1. Absolutely worth every penny.”

Many doula trainings focus primarily on comfort measures and stages of labor. We all need these foundations. And they are only a small part of the work! Intentional Birth Pro is structured as comprehensive professional formation.
With the IBP Core Training you will have a depth of knowledge in:
This is not a weekend doula training. The IBP Core Training lasts 4 months, with opportunities for continued learning up to a year and beyond. What sets us apart?
This training prepares you for real births in real situations — and to build a practice that works in real life.
As an optional add-on at checkout, join the IB Community! Here you can expand your learning, ask your questions and, experience real-time support.
This is NOT a dead-end Facebook group. The IB Community exists in our private app and offers weekly live learning experiences: covering niche topics, featuring guest speakers, and debriefing doula experiences. You'll also get access to our comprehensive parent-facing materials, and our community archive! A true treasure trove.
We invite world-class experts for 90-min sessions. You’ll hear from people like Dr. Sarah Buckley on oxytocin, Henci Goer on pain management, Dr.Stu Fishbein on twins, Karen Strange on neonatal resuscitation, Krysta Dancy on birth trauma, or Naseema McElroy on financial investing.
Every month Meredith & Alicia teach a niche training on birth or birth work. Past topics have included: placenta encapsulation, night doula work, crafting a client movement plan, hard conversations, prodromal labor, backup doulas...You get the picture!
This is the heart of the community. We celebrate the good stuff, process the confusing stuff, and work through the hard stuff together. This is the most non-judgmental, encouraging, and loving space, while it also calls us to be self-reflective and true.
Accountability central! We gather to riff on a niche birth business topic, then hot-seat a member’s business so we can hive-mind the challenge together. Finally, we share our goals, what is getting in our way, and how we’re going to move forward.
Right in the IB app, this private space is your opportunity to connect with other intentional pros, ask questions and often get real-time support, share your experiences, and get inspired every day by the good work everyone is doing in their communities!
If you add on the Community, you’ll get personal access to our 20-hour Parent Program, our 200-page parent workbook (for personal use only), our parent-facing Advocacy Program, and our Archive of all past guest masterclasses and community trainings. A literal treasure trove!!

Absolutely. Our model is a “Physiology First” model, which means that we prioritize the normal physiologic processes of the body --- hormones, biomechanics, nervous system, and more --- even in the hospital, and even when medical tools are in use. We will also show you how to prepare your clients well for unmedicated birth, and how to support their informed decision-making process in a revolutionary way.
We deeply believe in you, in your calling, and in the impact you’re meant to have. Whether you’re just beginning or you’ve been walking this path for years, you’re not alone. We’re here for you—now, throughout your journey, and always.
